IMAG History & Science Center

As board president of the Imaginarium Group, Inc. from 2014 to 2016, Jon Romine led the successful transformation of two city-supported museums into a unified, self-sustaining public-private partnership.

Under Jon’s leadership, the Imaginarium Science Center and the Southwest Florida History Museum – both of which operated with separate fundraising boards and relied on approximately $900,000 annually from the City of Fort Myers – were strategically merged, resulting in the IMAG History & Science Center.

Jon spearheaded the consolidation of the two nonprofit boards into a single, cohesive governance structure and facilitated a collaborative working group to develop a five-year business plan. This plan not only secured continued investment from the city, but also reduced the taxpayer burden by 49%, ultimately saving $4.4 million over 10 years.
